This year we celebrated Chad’s birthday with a picnic leading up to the Rivergods concert at Michael’s Dairy in New London. Some friends joined us, and we enjoyed a great evening of yummy food, great music, and delicious ice cream.
During the concert the bigger kids ran around on the grass, while a few of the smaller ones danced to the music. As always, it was great to hear our friends Ben and Nancy with their band, as well as Ben’s other band, Superbald.
Toward the end of the music, we were all shocked to see a smallish skunk poke its head out from under the gazebo and run through the crowd of kids across the field. I was so startled I didn’t fully process what had happened 
(or could have happened) until it was all over. It was a good laugh.
With so much going on the day of his birthday, we saved Chad’s birthday cheesecake for the next evening. Yum!
