Lego Racers was Gavin's pick for the theme of his seventh birthday party. We started the festivities with driver registration where we captured

the boys’ stats and assigned them to their racing teams. Then they colored race cars and played with Hot Wheels cars until it was time to rev up the fun.

In their teams, they alternately built race cars out of Legos, went through driver training (an online Lego racer game), and decorated their cars for the big race. Then it was time to get the

engines running. The race track (mowed into our lawn) took them around a swamp (kiddie pool filled with murky water), off a ramp through the ring of fire (a hoola hoop hanging from the clothesline), and to the pit

stop. After a loop around the
tree in the front yard and a jump over the big swing in back, they made it to the
finish line. What a great crew of racers we had!

Gavin was in seventh heaven with all the Lego Racers his friends gave him, as well as several other items to build. We finished off the day with a celebratory outdoor viewing of the Muppet Movie with friends. Thanks to everyone who helped make it a great day for us all!
