Getting Away

One of the great perks of being with family is stealing away without the kids. And did Chad and take advantage of this rare opportunity! We spent two nights in the Armstrong Mansion, built in 1893 by Francis Armstrong, mayor of Salt Lake City. What an awesome place – twelve rooms themed for each of the months of the year, many (including ours) with jacuzzi tubs. The breakfast was phenomenal – stuffed French toast, omelets, English trifle (an unexpected favorites), and many other delicacies. And the service was great – my sneak trip out to the lobby in search of a midnight snack was rewarded by half a dozen cookies right out of the oven accompanied by tall goblets of cold milk!

While on our escape we window shopped at the Gateway shopping center, enjoyed ethnic cuisine, took in the Temple Square light display, and stopped in at the historic Joseph Smith Memorial Building. Most of all we just enjoyed some quiet time away together without the kids. Thanks Grandma, Grandpa, and Rachel for keeping Gavin and Arwen busy and happy while were gone!
